Eagle Hill Exploration Corp. (TSXV: EAG) - PropertiesExploration History at Windfall Lake Gold Project Windfall Lake Gold Project The current focus of Eagle Hill is Windfall Lake gold project near Val D’Or located in Quebec. On July 29, 2009, Eagle Hill entered into a binding Option Agreement with Noront Resources Ltd., of Toronto Ontario, to acquire a 100% of that company’s Windfall Lake properties, subject to a 2% royalty. The Windfall Lake property is situated some 200 km NE of Val d’Or in the Abitibi Region of Quebec. The property is accessible from Val d’Or by paved highway, travelling first eastwards and then north-northeastwards, through Senneterre to the former pulp mill town of Lebel sur Quévillon. Gravel haul roads extend about 100 km due east of Quevillion to the property. Total travelling time is a little more than three hours. The current property comprises 157 staked or designated claims encompassing approximately 2,800 hectares situated in the southern half of Urban Township (NTS 32G04) and is named after Windfall Lake, the closest named lake. Noront holds a 100% interest in the Alcane, Windfall and South Blocks. The Windfall Lake property is situated in a well known exploration area. The property lies in the 200 km-long, east-west trending Urban-Barry greenstone belt, which also hosts the Grevet-Langlois VMS (Cambior / Breakwater) and Barry gold (Murgor- Freewest / Metanor) deposits. Murgor’s Barry deposit lies about 12 km along strike to the southwest. Exploration has focused on units of the Windfall Member, a locally developed, volcanic package that extends approximately 15 km along strike and is up to 1,800 metres thick. Over time, the exploration focus at Windfall Lake has swung from volcanogenic massive sulphide to vein-hosted gold and most recently towards gold-enriched, volcanogenic massive sulphides, a deposit class that that has produced a large proportion of the gold mined in the Abitibi Belt of Quebec. Exploration History at Windfall Lake Gold Project The area has a long exploration history initially led by prospectors seeking gold. The focused shifted to the search of base metals during 1960s as regional airborne surveys and ground geophysics and drilling supported such exploration programs. During mid-1990s, the focus was once again switched to gold as some prospectors recognized gold on the property. Approximately 70,750 metres of surface diamond drilling in 338 holes of all types are recorded on the combined properties since the mid-1990s. The drilling has focused on an 800 sq. metre area and has yielded many high grade gold intersections culminating in a section reporting in hole NOT-06-100 in late 2006. In early 2007, it was decided to take a bulk sample of the NOT-06-100 intersection by means of an exploration ramp. During the year, permitting, engineering and site preparation were completed. Beginning in late 2007 and continuing through 2008, a 115 m (metre) long portal was excavated, 1,202 m of ramp and access crosscuts driven and 233 m of drifting completed in three zones, F-11, F-17 (both on the Murgor option) and W-3 (site of the NOT-06-100 intersection). Ultimately, about 17,000 tonnes of material was sampled out an estimated total of 72,500 tonnes excavated. The results generally mirrored those from surface drilling in that mineralization was indeed restricted to the well-defined, strike parallel zones and that very high grade material (up to almost 900 g/t Au/ 1 m) was occasionally encountered. |
