+ More info
What is interesting?
- Orvana is a proven junior gold producer with a successful history of producing gold at its Don Mario Mine in Bolivia, which produced over 420,000 ounces of gold and generated $140 million in cash-flow during 2003 and 2009.
- The company is now developing the Don Mario Upper Mineralized Zone (UMZ) copper-gold project, which will extend its operations in the Don Mario District, an area well known to the company. With an estimated mine life of 9 years, production will commence at this site shortly.
- The company is in a transition phase, transforming from a stable producing company to an exploration and growth oriented resource company.
- Strong Technical team- The company has a strong operating team with significant experience in building and operating underground mines.
- A strong balance sheet with over $52 million in cash ($0.45/share) allows sufficient cushion to the company to carry further exploration and operations works.
- The company has a strong pipeline of exploration projects in relatively stable regions.
- The company has a very attractive copper project. Its Copperwood copper project is located near the past producing White Pine Mine in the upper peninsula of the state of Michigans.
- The company just announced NI 43-101 Resource Estimate at Copperwood. It estimates that the Measured and Indicated resources are 19.5 million tonnes of 1.86% copper for 798 million pounds of copper, and Inferred resources are 3.3 million tonnes of 1.49% copper for 107 million pounds of copper. The company plans to file the Technical Report with SEDAR within 45 days.
- The most recent addition to its exploration portfolio is the El Valle-Boinás/Carlés gold-copper project, which the company acquired in September 2009 through its acquisition of Kinbauri Gold Corp.
- The the El Valle-Boinás/Carlés gold-copper project is probably its largest and the most promising gold project. The company plans to achieve production during the second quarter of 2011 at this project and estimates an annual gold production of 100,000 ounces for this project.
- The company has received favourable drill results at the El Valle-Boinás/Carlés gold-copper project and recently announced that Measured and indicated gold ounces increased by 24% to 1,201,000 and Inferred gold ounces by 18% to 1,478,000.
Risks
Orvana is a junior resource company. The commercialization risks associated with mineral exploration and development are high and its prospects for discovering economically viable copper and gold resources are uncertain. Metal prices can fluctuate and a decline in metal prices could impact the share price of the company adversely. Early stage exploration companies typically needs significant amount of capital and although currently well financed, Orvana may still require additional financing. This could result in shareholders’ dilution.
